What Makes Us Different

Irene and Les Astbury (my grandparents) opened the pet shop on 9th March 1981, and took £9.00 that day. They converted the shop from a laundrette (The Coin Wash) into a pet shop. Since Grandpa passed away in 2007, Stuart (my brother) and I took over the running of the shop.

From 2007, the shop has gone from strength to strength and we have extended our shop, made our stock room smaller allowing more room in the shop for products to be displayed and more recently opened upstairs as part of our shop.

We were delighted to hear that Nana (Irene) was nominated for Cheshire Women of the Year Award back in March 2017. Nana said she was “Very honoured to have been recognised and I still have no idea who nominated me!” She attended a special lunch and ceremony at Eaton Hall in Chester with her granddaughter in law Natalie Parks, where she picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award which is on show at the shop. Sadly, we lost Nana Irene earlier this year (2024) when she passed away at the age of 97.
Looking to the future, as well as continuing to supply a wide range of pet products such as food, toys, bedding, grooming and accessories for dogs, cats and other small animals, we also stock equine and poultry supplies and as we continue to grow the business, we have expanded the first floor of the shop which is now dedicated to fishing and angling supplies with a vast array of products from all the leading suppliers, along with live and dead baits available.

As a family run business, we really do pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service with a knowledgeable and friendly team. This means whether you make a purchase, pop in the shop for a browse, or just call for some advice we value each and every customer enquiry we receive.
